Former Perris City Council Member Raul Mark Yarbrough passed away last month from complications of the novel coronavirus. He was 61 years old. The city has released a moving tribute, which you can watch above.

Yarbrough served on the Council from 1996 to 2014 and from 2015 to 2016, also serving as mayor pro tem. He was an auto mechanic and business owner by trade. And his love of cars was legendary.

Another one of Yarbrough’s passions was the preservation of Lake Perris, according to his wife Shelly. She says he fought relentlessly against a plan to have it drained some years ago. Shelly and Raul had four children together.

A celebration of Yarbrough’s life will take place Thursday, March 18 at 3 PM at the Perris Auto Speedway grandstands.
