At least three people were killed and six people were injured Wednesday night when a gunman opened fire on the Cook’s Corner biker’s bar in Trabuco Canyon.
The establishment was hosting a spaghetti night special with a live band. 911 received a call about the shooting at 7:04 p.m. and arrived at the bar two minutes later.
KCAL News and other sources are reporting that the shooter was a retired sergeant from the Ventura Police Department. He was shot and killed by Orange County deputies after they arrived.
Witnesses report the man had a dispute with his wife just before going on the shooting spree.
Public officials have been reacting to the horrific news.
“It’s disturbing to learn that another domestic dispute led to another mass shooting. We must do more to prevent senseless acts of gun violence and protect survivors,” said Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley.
There have been more than 460 mass shootings in the United States so far this year.
