For the first time next year, Lancaster residents will see their own police officers patrolling city streets.

California cities have been grappling with a shortage of police officers for years now. To boost recruits, some cities are offering higher pay and attractive bonuses.

So much for “Defund the Police.”

The allegations are frightening and appalling.

Officers used the N-word to refer to Black people, admitted to brutalizing suspects, and talked about killing Mayor Lamar Thorpe.

The Yuba City Police Department has welcomed a new officer, and we can confidently say he’s the cutest one on the force. He’s brown and white with long ears and a fluffy cotton tail.

“I am no longer confident that Chief Armstrong can do the work needed,” said Mayor Sheng Thao. 

Culver City Police Chief Manuel Cid has been hired to lead the Glendale Police Department.

He joined the department almost two decades ago and most recently held the rank of lieutenant.

Berkeley City Manager Dee Williams-Ridley is under fire for failing to disclose claims of sexual misconduct against the woman she chose to head Berkeley’s police department.
